On Monday, in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center is holding the 38th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration March/Parade.
The march is one of several events the community center organized to honor Dr. King’s life during the week of Jan. 13-21. There will be approximately 250 entries from various community organizations, church groups, youth groups and nonprofit organizations. Among these are colorful floats, marching bands, dance troops and vehicles.
“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. devoted his life to advancing equality, social justice and opportunity for all and challenged all Americans to participate in the never-ending work of building a more perfect union,” Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center Public Affairs Officer Roxana Rubio said on email. “MLK week and the parade give the community a way to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King and come together in unity and truly celebrate in a way that would make Dr. King proud.”
The parade starts from Holmes Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd promptly at 10 a.m and ends approximately at 2 p.m. at Fair Park.
