Despite the torrential downpour last Friday Sept. 11, the Coppell High School Band’s Queso party still proceeded, though not until nearly midnight.
The Queso party, a tradition long revered by all band members, occurs most fridays after football games and at times during contest season. Previously, the parties were held at Clarinet section leader Katy Gale’s house , however, this year Senior Drum Major David Dreir has taken over as the host.
Often consisting of rock-band sessions and loads of food, the Queso parties this 2009 – 2010 year have been said to be the best. Although the responsibilites of having the Queso parties are numerous, such as the cost of food and clean-up the following day.
This week’s game is away in Weatherford, thus much of the band anticipates the coming Queso party. In addition, the following week is Homecoming, although a lesser turn out is projected.
Looking further into the life of CHS band, they are also preparing for the annual UTA BOA Marching Contest on October 10. No doubt, although the Band works hard they sure know how to party.
