“I’ve been into photography for several years, since, I would say, sixth grade in middle school. What kind of got me into it was the whole instagram, tumblr-esque, with pictures of fairy lights and other artsy pictures. I was super interested and that’s truly when I first started but I didn’t come out with any of my work until five years later, in December of senior year. When I first went public with my work, on my instagram and other platforms, I didn’t really have any intention of turning it into a quote-on-quote business per say. I just wanted people to let me take their pictures and it’s senior year and everyone is looking to take their senior photos, so I wanted to jump at opportunity. I would say, “If anyone needs to get their photos taken, it’s me! It’s me!”. So at first, I wasn’t charging people at all. But after showing people the pictures, like my mom and other friends, they would always tell me that I could totally charge for [these pictures]. At first, I didn’t feel comfortable with that because I didn’t think I was good enough. After a while, I started I started charging ten dollars an hour 1:50.”
