Getting back in the groove

Cowboys return to Buddy Echols Field to take on McKinney Boyd

Nicholas Pranske, Staff Writer

After an exciting win over L.D. Bell at Pennington Field last week, the Coppell Cowboys are ready to come back home tonight against McKinney Boyd at Buddy Echols Field.

In week one, the Cowboys featured a strong defense, as well as a solid offensive line. This led to multiple big defensive plays by cornerback Jonathan McGill and inside linebacker Nnamdi Ogbogu, as well as long runs by junior running backs Blake Jackson and Ryan Hirt.

The Cowboys also made their way down the field last week with the help of senior quarterback Brady McBride and wide receivers Gabe Lemons and Reese Walker. The connection between McBride and his receivers yielded many long receptions, including one touchdown.

Coppell coach Mike DeWitt seems confident in his team going into the game tonight.

“We’ll watch film and work harder this week, but overall I’m proud of my boys,” said DeWitt.

The Cowboys will play tonight at 7:30 p.m. and tickets will be pre-sold for $4, as well as at the gate; $6 for students and $8 for adults.
