Juniors have finally entered what is said to be their toughest semester in all their years of high school. Between SAT’s, ACT’s, class rank, GPA, and narrowing down a list of colleges to apply to, there is really no balance in the process of trying to get all of these accomplished. Unfortunately for those of you who haven’t encountered the second semester of junior year as yet, there is truly no comparison, and seniors know exactly what I am talking about.
Thursday, Jan. 21 all members of the junior student body met with their counselors in the lecture hall to watch one of the many presentations regarding our “future”. I would label this one to be the first of amny to come, and perhaps some seniors can speak with experience.
So if you were amongst the several juniors who were sleeping in the back, the presentation was a detailed description of the steps we need to abide by in order to finish off the year successfully, and enter our senior year on the right note. Way to miss out.
To summarize the points being made during the lecture-the next year and a half of our lives does not have much room for mistake or much time to waste.
Counselors handed out a booklet titled “College-Post High School Handbook” that goes over all the subjects seen on the slideshow in slightly more detail to conclude the meeting. Additionally, they mentioned how juniors would be recieving a letter in the mail indicating when a meeting would be scheduled with their parents in order to go over specific plans for the next couple of months.
For those of you who were listening but did not recieve the chance to have your questions answered, or didn’t raise your hand because you didn’t want to make it look like you actually care, simply visit your naviance web page that should help with any concerns you may have.
My personal piece of advice: hold on for the ride, because it’s about to get relatively crazy.
