First Coppell hotel to begin construction

Coppell, with a population of over 40,000, is one of the largest cities in the United States to have no hotels or motels within city limits. The City will lose this unusual distinction by 2015, however. Construction for a Sheraton hotel is underway near the intersection of I635 and Point West Boulevard in the southern part of Coppell.

In April, the City Council approved the development of this hotel, which will be six stories high with 157 rooms. According to Sheraton, this new development will be the newest entry in their upscale Four Points chain of hotels, which includes a conference center, large restaurant and lounge. This location has been considered a prime piece of real estate for hotel development for quite some time now, but no concrete plans had materialized until now.

Construction is slated to begin within the month, and if all things go as planned, Sheraton will have the hotel running at full capacity by 2015.
