Gifted and talented testing for next semester is here

By Nikki Dabney

Staff Writer

The deadline to apply for testing into the Gifted and Talented (GT) Program of Coppell ISD is January 22nd.

Students in grades five through twelve may apply to be apart of the program next semester (or next year for fifth grade students) as long as they did not test in the Fall of 2012; students may only apply once every academic year. The next testing opportunity is in August 2013.

GT students are above-average students who exhibit three qualities:

1) High performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;

2) An unusual capacity for leadership; or

3) Excellence in a specific academic field

Students are assessed using the CogAT, of which there are no preparation materials available. Testing will be held at Coppell High School on February 16th at 8:30 a.m.

Applicants must fill out a form and submit their application online or on paper to the CISD Office of Assessment in the CISD Admin. Building located at 200 S. Denton Tap Road, Coppell, TX 75019
