As the Coppell varsity volleyball team continues on their journey through playoffs, the Coppell cheerleaders take the journey with them becoming a large part of the team’s fan base.
“We used this opportunity to show our school spirit for the other sports teams besides football,” JV cheerleader Paola Lozano said.
Although cheerleaders are used to cheering on their sports teams, especially now during season, volleyball games are completely different than football games.
According to Lozano the squad prepares for these games days in advance by practicing stunts on hardwood floors, practicing cheers specific to the game and making signs.
“The cheers for volleyball are actually similar to those in football but we change the words to specify the actions volleyball players do and make sure to say cowgirls,” Lozano said.
After one game completed, and more preparation, the squad travels the distance to support the volleyball girls tonight at Centennial High School in Burleson at 7:30 p.m.
