Halloween spooks up the Halls

This year, Halloween happened to fall on a Wednesday, in the middle of the school week, but many Coppell High School students and teachers are not going to let this stop their holiday spirit.

Many students are sporting subtle costumes, such as cat ears or pumpkins shirts, but others refused to leave their full out costumes at home. IB English III teacher Michael Vergein is wearing the same Ichabod Crane costume he wears every year. This costume is based off the Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving, which the IB students read each year around this time. Mr. Vergein dresses up as the main character to add life to the story and celebrate the season.

Also, many teachers are handing out halloween candy to their students. The PTSO Hospitality committee provides candy in a cauldron for teachers to draw from and pass out to their students. IB History of the America students have been coloring Halloween themed pages and learning about the history of the spooky holiday.

While most students will not be Trick-Or-Treating, some students refuse to let the festivity become a thing of their past. Junior Ines Flueck tweeted “My mom thinks I’m too old to go trick-or-treating #umwhat”. It is not to late for an awesome last minute costume idea, if you are wondering. For those not going door to door, Sonic is offering 50 cent corndogs all day, and Chipotle is offering $2 burritos to anyone who comes in in a costume.

New Tech is also sponsoring a Haunted House as a fundraiser.
