Premature concerns about Prom

By Angela Almeida                                                                                                        Opinions Editor

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this month is October. That being said, there is six months between now and Prom. Six overbearing, stressful months of college applications and anticipation leading up to graduation. Thus, why do I seem to be hearing about the trials and tribulations leading up to Prom, now?

I can attest to thinking a time or two about a dress or maybe even a date. But worrying about it at this point in our senior year seems quite premature. I promise you, getting a date is not a do or die. Granted, it is somewhat of a highschool staple for the coveted “before prom pictures”, however not a necessity.

This is merely some food for senior thought. I find it mildly entertaining the way we as girls (and perhaps even guys) dwell about Prom as if it is some impending doom. Yet again, this isn’t to imply everyone suffers from the same preoccupation. But for those that do, I advise you not to worry.

Between now and April, the seasons change. The people change. And incidentially, his or her prospective date is bound to as well.
