While there have been no notable religious holidays lately, last Monday, the 12th, was the secular holiday of Columbus day. While controversy has erupted in past years about the dubious nature of Columbus “discovering” America, the day was nonetheless celebrated. Coppell schools had the day off Friday the 9th as well as the 12th, though many parts of the country do not observe the day at all.
