Pep rally glows with school spirit

“57!” “53!” echoed through the CHS gym as students got pumped up for tomorrow night’s big game against our biggest rival, the Southlake Carroll Dragons.

Today’s pep rally was a very different; it was a glow in the dark pep rally.

“We wanted to keep in theme with blackout Southlake,” Principal Brad Hunt said.

The pep rally started with the lights on and began like every other with the pledges and the national anthem, sung by Junior Hilary Taylor.

Another set of students displayed their talents by rapping for the crowd.

Then, the lights went out and the Lariettes preformed a dance in the pitch black. They had glow stick bracelets on each of their wrists which created a very exciting effect.

With the help of black lights placed on the gym floor, the cheerleaders dressed in white stood out as they did their dance.

Glow sticks were passed out to students as they entered the gym.

Students were very enthusiastic about the new, different pep rally.

“It [the pep rally] was so cool,” senior Catherine Lugo said. “I liked it a lot. It was very creative and unique. The best part of the pep rally was the glow sticks.”

The idea of a black out pep rally was created just for the game against Southlake.

“We wanted to do something different and special for such a big game,” Hunt said. “There is so much riding on this game: so far we’re undefeated, it’s our first district game and last year’s impressive win.”

Today’s pep rally ensured that students are pumped up and ready for tomorrow night.
