The first ever Cici’s Barefoot Run benefiting Shoes for Orphan Souls is to be held on Saturday at Andy Brown Park East in Coppell. Both the 5K and 1-mile fun runs are open to both children and adults and shoes are considered ‘optional.’
Prizes and medals will be awarded to the winners who run the race barefoot and with shoes. Games and children will also be available for children who want to participate at the race, and all profits will benefit children in Africa in need of shoes.
Since 1999, Shoes for Orphan Souls has collected and distributed more than 2.2 million pairs of shoes to both needy children in the North Texas area and in 72 other countries worldwide. Shoes for Orphan Souls is the largest project of Buckner International, a Dallas based Christian ministry founded in 1879 as the Bucker Orphan Home.
