With the seasons changing, school getting fully in swing, and rainstorms beginning to pour over with increasingly regularitiy. It is time to acknowledge that the summer is finally over. Here are some albums that would go well with this new season.
“If You’re Feeling Sinister” by Belle and Sebastian
This album’s melancholy lyrics, quiet but beautiful instrumentation, and sing-along hooks fit well with the dreary autumn season. The album flows along at a medium pace which makes it easy to get into, and hard to get out of your head. A choice track would be the title track”If You’re Feeling Sinister” with it’s almost whispered vocals and guitar strumming that furthers along the song without overpowering it.
“Our Endless Numbered Days” by Iron and Wine
A guitar, a banjo and a bearded man make up the chief instrumetation on this album. Whispered vocals actually do make up this indie folk album that has a certain homespun feel. The emotion that is brought into the album by vocalist Sam Beam’s voice causes anyone to think of the drollness of the fall season and what that memories it brings to them.
“Bachelor Number 2 or The Last Remains of the Dodo” by Aimee Mann
The soundtrack of “Magnolia” might as well fit into this space because at least four of the songs on this album are on that album. They both take place in a small space where the artist vocalizes harmoniously with the soft but moving production of John Brion. Chief Track would be “Save Me”.
