Coppell High School’s stadium is a bit more crowded than usual this week. Any other time of year it would be a very odd sight to see sleeping bags and tents set up in Buddy Echols Field, but not this week. Parents, hoping to get their child into New Tech High@Coppell next year, have been camping out at CHS since Tuesday until this Saturday when they will finally know if their child has been accepted into New Tech.
After last year’s stampede incident, the guidelines and rules are very strict during this process. Each parent is given a numbered wrist band representing the number they will be accepted as. There are 59 spots available and in order to keep your spot you must stay at Buddy Echols stadium until Saturday with only one hour spent away from your campground every day. This might not seem worth it to some, but to those parents who are dedicated to getting their child accepted, it is well worth the effort.
