Coppell boys and girls track and field teams grab the gold with pride at the District 5-6A meet.
Coppell girls coach Landon Wren has established his excitement for the program’s accomplishments this season.
“We have 16 girls total competing for the area meet,” Wren said. “A total of 17 events in track and field, we’ve got girls competing in 16 events at the area meet.”.
At this stage of the season, athletes are working to keep their bodies and minds fresh.
“We’re not trying to do a lot of tough workouts,” Wren said. “We’re really trying to keep their legs fresh, just doing a lot of speed work and resting.”
After the District 5-6A championship brought success to all of Coppell’s track and field teams, the reflection back to the win has become an important part to Coppell sports history.
“We were tired of finishing second, it just left a sour taste in your mouth. Second is nice but it’s not winning it all,” Wren said. “Winning the district championship pretty handily, and scoring points in every event is a big deal.”
