National Art Honor Society events in the planning

National Art Honor Society (NAHS) at the high school is vigorously practicing service projects this month.

A club, whose members participate in a variety of acts of service from modeling for artists to painting faces at local events, has got a number of exciting ideas for hours.

One new project, sponsored by eCoppell (an environmental club at CHS), allows NAHS members to paint parking spots at Kroger’s that will help remind shopper not to forget their reusable cloth grocery bags when leaving their car.

NAHS  again this year is face painting: at the Cottonwood Creek Elementary School Carnival this Friday, Oct. 29, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and at the CMS West dance the same night, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The club will also be decorating Chili’s T-shirts (“create-a-pepper“) to help raise funds that will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The upcoming club meeting on Thursday, Oct. 21 (in E105) will address officer elections and service opportunities. To join the club, one must have received at least one art credit at the high school, have maintained an 85 or better average in art classes, submit an application and pay $6 dues. Art students interested, see Mrs. Westervelt in E105 for information.
