After a 2-2 tie against Plano on Monday, the Coppell boys soccer team hosts  Plano West at 7 p.m. Friday at Buddy Echols Field.

Coppell’s past matches, against Plano, Flower Mound, Hebron and Plano East, have ended in ties. Coppell coach Stephen Morris hopes to solidify his team’s defense.

“We’ve been able to score goals but we’re giving up too many goals.” Morris said. “Obviously, we’re trying not to give up goals and, hopefully, we can come out on top.”

Morris pointed out many players to look out for during the match, but he thinks the team does not rely on any specific players to score goals.

“We’re a pretty balanced team,” Morris said. “We’ve been able to score goals and our goals are coming from different players contributing because of the style of soccer we play. It is truly a team effort.”

This match is also special as it is Senior Night, a way to celebrate the seniors on the team.

“It’s very special. We’re going to honor our seniors and they’re all going to play in the game,” Morris said. “We’re going to show that we can win with anyone on the field because that’s what we’re going to do.”
