On Tuesday night, the Coppell boys basketball team lost Flower Mound Marcus, 78-56, to end its season. The Cowboys needed a win to advance to the Class 6A playoffs.

Marcus built a 14-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

In defeat, Coppell junior forward Arhan Lapsiwala made four 3-pointers.

“This one hurts,” senior forward Alex Ninan said. “We didn’t do enough to win the game. We didn’t start off well, we went down 14-0 early, our heads were not in it. I feel for all the guys that lost, all the seniors along with me, people that’ve been in the program a long time but I’m sure my underclassmen will take over next year and put together a solid season.”
