Dallas Cowboys stuck in 2010 slump

    By Peter Sblendorio

    Sports Editor

While the Cowboys of Coppell have been outstanding since the 2010 football season started, the Cowboys of Dallas have given their fans a bit more reason to be concerned.

Touted as a contender to play in the Super Bowl this February on their home field, Jerry Jones’ roster of talented players has underperformed greatly in both games this season. The offense was unable to muster anything against a seemingly average defense in Washington, and they let Jay Cutler dominate them in Week 2 in Arlington.

The Cowboys will be faced with a tough test in Week 3, taking on a 2-0 Houston Texans team that has beaten the AFC champions from a year ago in the Colts and the same Washington team that gave Dallas trouble in Week 1.

Nobody is counting the Cowboys in 2010 yet, as each team in the division has their share of problems. The Giants defense look suspect against Peyton Manning and the Colts last week, the Eagles starting QB Michael Vick has not been a full time starter since 2006, and the Redskins looked poor in allowing a massive fourth quarter comeback to Houston last week.

That said, the Cowboys are the only team in the division to not win a game in 2010, and they have what is considered the NFL’s second hardest schedule in 2010 based on 2009 win percentages.

If the Cowboys are to repeat as the NFC East champs this year, there is no question that they will need to turn up the heat now and start winning games.
