Rakestraw wins Male Coach of the Year honors

Coach Chad Rakestraw led his team to an undefeated season and a state title, and his team also ended with a top 25 national ranking finish. This, among many other things is why he has been named the 2015-2016 Sidekick Male Coach of the Year.

“This was a team that worked together for a common goal,” Rakestraw said. “That was the difference between this team and others who did not accomplish as much.”

Rakestraw’s teams are regularly top flight, most noticeably in 2013 when it won the program’s second state championship. After winning the state championship with two different groups of players, Rakestraw’s success is undeniable. Sophomore forward Wyatt Priest keyed in on what makes Rakestraw so great.

“[He] never solely focussed on winning state. Instead, he developed us into the best players we could be,” Priest said.
The Coppell Cowboys boys soccer team ended the season at 24-0-2. Congratulations to the 2015-2016 Sidekick Sports Male Coach of the Year, Chad Rakestraw.
