To commemorate all the athletes from spring sports and others who recently committed to play their sport at the college level, the spring signing celebration was held Thursday, honoring 18 Coppell student athletes, their sports careers here at CHS, and their futures in college athletics.
“The first thing that goes through there mind, I know it did mine, is just a quick look back and appreciation for all the hard work they put into it up to this point to be in front of their peers, friends, and families to play at the next level,” Coppell ISD Athletics Director Joe McBride said. “It’s just a look back and appreciation.”
“There’s a great tradition of kids that want to achieve high and play at a high level and want to work to do that,” McBride said. “This is a great tribute to good parenting and highly driven kids.”
Several student athletes who participated in fall and winter sports also signed their letters of intent, including football player Glenn Williams, who just signed with Kansas State University.
“It’s really exciting. I’ve dreamt about it since I was a kid,” Williams said. “Most of us that sign here have dreamt about being at the next level and just playing at the highest possible level. It was awesome.”
