The Cowboys ended their baseball season last weekend losing Class 6A regional quarterfinal series to Southlake Carroll Dragons in three games.
The Dragons would take the first and third game of series, winning Saturday’s decisive Game 3 in Prosper, 3-2, to knock out the Cowboys and end their season with an overall record of 25-6 and 10-2 district record and were 7-6A district champs.
The Cowboys finished the season ranked eighth in the state and were area champions.
“I think the season went well, didn’t end how we wanted it too, but we had a good overall record and became close as a team,” sophomore shortstop Jacob Nesbit said.
Nesbit finished second on the team in average this year hitting .360.
The Cowboys are already thinking of big things next year.
“We have a lot of players coming back but were obviously going to miss Elliot and Jones a lot next year. Going to need help from the younger kids next season,” Nesbit said.
The Cowboys are only losing one senior starter in the field and some good pitchers but the Cowboys have a good core returning and have a bright future for the 2016 season.
