CMA awards show airs tonight

By Rebecca Fowler
Staff Writer

The country is going to be singing and stomping its boots tonight when the CMA awards airs live on ABC.

This will be the 43rd CMA awards and is sure to be filled with famous stars and songs. One of the most talked about country artists this year is Taylor Swift, who is up for Entertainer of the Year along with Kenney Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait and Keith Urban. The only girl in the running—and the only one under 25 at that—Swift is likely to make it big this year and take home the trophy and greatest honor the Country Music Association can give.

With the most records sold this year (3 million copies of “Fearless,” to be exact), other than Michael Jackson, Swift has certainly provided good reason for the judges to award her with Entertainer of the Year.

The other country music nominations are:

Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Jamey Johnson—Best Album

Miranda Lambart, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood—Best Female Vocalist

Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Keith Urban—Best Male Vocalist

Randy Houser, Taylor Swift, Billy Currington, Brad Paisley duet with Keith Urban, George Strait—Best Music Video

Brooks & Dunn feat. Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney with Mac McAnally, Carrie Underwood feat. Randy Travis, Lee Ann Womack duet with George Strait, The Raconteurs feat. Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe, Brad Paisley duet with Keith Urban—Best Musical Event

Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen, Darius Rucker, Zac Brown Band—Best New Artist

Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Jamey Johnson, Billy Currington, Brad Paisley—Best Single

Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn, Joey + Rory, Montgomery Gentry, Sugarland—Best Vocal Duo

Eagles, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band—Best Vocal Group

The CMA awards show airs tonight at 7pm on ABC.
