Last Friday, during the Coppell Cowgirls softball game against the Keller Central Lady Chargers.
Junior Lora Blackwell became one of few to score a home run at the Cowgirls stadium.
In her second at bat, Blackell hit a solo home run to tie the game at 3-3.
With that home run, Lora became only the 5th Cowgirl to hit a home run at Cowgirl Stadium since it opened in 2002.
Lora also became the only junior Cowgirl to hit a home run at the stadium; the other four players were Nicole Denes, Brittany Chalk, Rachel Foreshaw and Kelsey Latta, and they were all seniors.
“I walked up to the batters box knowing I had to make something happen,” Blackwell said. “All I was thinking was I had to make contact. My team depended on me and I could not let them down. You never expect a home run, it just happens.”
