Pancakes prove charitable

Free pancakes can benefit everyone. At least, that is what IHOP is proving with its National Pancake Day. Since its start in 2006, this innovative fundraiser has garnered nearly $8 million in support of surrounding charities in its surrounding communities. Throughout the country, IHOP encourages pancake lovers to visit a local restaurant to indulge in a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. In return, the restaurant giant simply hopes participants in this atypical celebration will donate the their cause.

With many IHOP restaurants within reasonable distance, Coppell residents have ample opportunities to get involved in this fun way to support their surrounding communities. Students at Coppell High School are already planning a trip.

“Pancakes have always been kind of a specialty of mine,” senior Ben Marshall said. “I really like pancakes a lot, I try to eat them every morning. So this free pancake thing is kind of a blessing for me. I just love pancakes so much, I am going to go there and eat so many pancakes. And I am going to donate money, of course I will, but it’s all about the pancakes today.”

So if you know what’s good for your stomach, and your conscience, head over to your local IHOP and participate in National Pancake Day.
