Registration for annual Turkey Trot begins

By Caroline Carter
Staff Writer

Every Thanksgiving Day the Dallas YMCA and Capital One Bank put on the annual Turkey Trot. Registration has begun and it will be a fun event for the whole family.

The Turkey Trot began 43 years ago and was originally held at White Rock Lake but is now held in Downtown Dallas. This year runners have the option of running or walking either eight miles or a 5k. The Turkey Trot is a tradition that attracts thousands of people from across the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.

Not only will there be the race, but also fun activities for younger children including pony rides, bounce houses, and musical entertainment. Some race participants even choose to dress up as turkeys in honor of it being Thanksgiving.
